I'm Too Young To River Cruise

Updated: Sep 7, 2023

'cause nobody my age likes exploring cute European villages!

Seriously though, river cruises are fantastic for people my age (early 40s). You get to explore so many cute villages and quaint towns when you are on a river cruise, way more than if you were traveling on your own. Being able to unpack once and see all of these places is a huge bonus (though some locations shown here were featured on a cruise tour after the river cruise).

River cruising is often associated with an older demographic, but I believe any age can enjoy this style of travel. Truly, the experience of exploring charming European villages is even more fun when you are younger, more mobile, and curious about discovering hidden gems off the beaten path.

As you can see, I'm obviously too young for river cruising!

Let's take a closer look at some of the captivating locations showcased in the video:

  1. Chartres: We visited this location on a cruise tour after the river cruise. I was blown away by the medieval streets, ancient architecture, and, of course, the magnificent Chartres Cathedral. And the shopping is actually quite good here too!

  2. Amsterdam: The vibrant city of Amsterdam is a must-visit for anyone, regardless of their age. From the picturesque canals lined with charming houses to world-class museums like the Van Gogh Museum and the Anne Frank House, Amsterdam offers a perfect mix of history, culture, and contemporary allure.

  3. Les Andelys: Nestled on the banks of the Seine River, Les Andelys is a small French town that exudes tranquility and old-world charm. The ruins of Château Gaillard, perched high on a hill, offer breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

  4. Rouen: Steeped in history, Rouen is a city that takes you back in time with its well-preserved medieval architecture. The magnificent Rouen Cathedral, made famous by Monet's paintings, stands as a testament to the city's rich heritage.

  5. Étretat: A hidden gem on the northern coast of France, Étretat is well known for its stunning white cliffs and picturesque beaches, but it's still quiet and charming.

  6. Mont-Saint Michel: Seeing Mont-Saint Michel rising from the sea is an experience that words can hardly do justice. But did you know it's not just an Abbey! Being able to explore the narrow streets is like a step back in time.

  7. Dol-de-Bretagne: This was the most adorable pit stop that we made while travelling on our post-cruise bus tour, such a charming town, I wish we could have stayed longer.

  8. Paris: While not a small town, Paris still exudes charm like no other. The city of love and lights offers an array of iconic landmarks. But what makes Paris extra special is the hidden away places, and off the beaten path streets and neighborhoods.

River cruising is an excellent way to experience the beauty and charm of Europe's hidden gems, regardless of your age. Let's book your next adventure so you can show how you are also too young for river cruising!
